Idaho health officials report 2,376 new COVID-19 cases, 47 deaths for weekend, Monday
Officials with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported thousands of new COVID-19 cases and dozens of new deaths related to the illness as the state passed the one-month mark of implementing crisis standards of care in hospitals.
Since Saturday, which was the one-month milestone of statewide patient triage efforts at Idaho hospitals, officials reported 2,376 new COVID-19 cases. Together, Ada and Canyon counties accounted for about 42% of the new cases. IDHW is currently working through a backlog of cases and clarifies on its website that data may be incomplete.
The agency also reported 47 new COVID-related deaths in Idaho. They were in the following counties: Ada (6 new, 724 total), Adams (1 new, 10 total), Bingham (3 new, 109 total), Boise (1 new, 9 total), Bonner (6 new, 89 total), Boundary (1 new, 25 total), Canyon (9 new, 476 total), Gem (1 new, 55 total), Jerome (2 new, 46 total), Kootenai (9 new, 365 total), Latah (1 new, 31 total), Shoshone (2 new, 59 total), Twin Falls (3 new, 202 total) and Washington (2 new, 43 total).
To date, Idaho has reported 278,454 cases of COVID-19 and 3,298 deaths from COVID.
