Idaho, Ada County both report record number of new confirmed coronavirus cases Monday
Idaho’s seven health districts reported a record 509 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus on Monday, and Ada County’s state-leading total surged to 4,212.
The previous record was 506 new cases on Saturday.
Ada County also set a record with 285 confirmed cases on Monday, according to Central District Health. The county produced more than 100 new cases for the 11th straight day and topped 200 cases in a single day for the third time in less than a month.
Ada County has reported 1,998 confirmed cases since July 3, including 207 on July 5. Its previous record was 217 cases on June 29.
As cases began to surge in the state’s most populated county, which includes Boise, Ada reverted to Stage 3 of Idaho’s reopening plan on June 22, per a Central District Health order that required bars to close and limited gatherings to 50 people. On July 2, Boise Mayor Lauren McLean signed an emergency order mandating face coverings in the city.
No new deaths were reported Monday, leaving the statewide total at 102. Since the pandemic began, 10,707 confirmed cases have been reported across Idaho.
New cases were reported Monday in 22 other counties: Bannock (16 new, 159 total), Bear Lake (1 new, 4 total), Bingham (11 new, 96 total), Bonner (11 new, 78 total), Bonneville (10 new, 169 total), Canyon (72 new, 2,086 total), Cassia (7 new, 291 total), Clearwater (1 new, 5 total), Elmore (4 new, 99 total), Gem (3 new, 61 total), Jefferson (15 new, 36 total), Jerome (12 new, 276 total), Kootenai (31 new, 736 total), Madison (25 new, 76 total), Minidoka (8 new, 243 total), Nez Perce (3 new, 99 total), Owyhee (4 new, 84 total), Payette (3 new, 169 total), Shoshone (1 new, 9 total), Teton (5 new, 37 total), Twin Falls (19 new, 745 total) and Valley (2 new, 26 total).
According to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, there are 744 probable cases across the state, and 3,262 patients are presumed to have recovered. The state also reported 3,147 new COVID-19 tests on Monday.

Hospitalizations: Health and Welfare reports that there have been 500 hospitalizations due to the coronavirus, 144 admissions to the ICU and 760 health care workers who have been infected. The hospital and health care numbers are based on cases with completed investigations into contacts, not the full number of positives.
Testing totals: At the end of the day Sunday, Health and Welfare reported that 129,540 tests had been completed statewide. About 9% of those have been positive for COVID-19.
