Confirmed coronavirus infections in Idaho increased by more than 3,000 in the space of a week as the state topped 10,000 total cases statewide on Sunday.

Data from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and Eastern Idaho Public Health on Sunday showed nearly 400 additional cases across Idaho — the lowest number reported after several days of record-breaking new case numbers.

Ada County again led the state with 170 more cases reported Sunday, the 10th day in a row that cases in the county have exceeded 100.

To date, 3,927 Ada County residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. That’s the most of any county in the state and nearly double the number in Canyon County, which has the second-highest case count in Idaho. Canyon County added 95 cases Sunday.

Officials reported new cases in 17 other counties on Sunday: Blaine (1 new, 537 total), Boise (1 new, 9 total), Bonner (8 new, 67 total), Bonneville (9 new, 159 total), Boundary (2 new, 7 total), Elmore (6 new, 95 total), Fremont (1 new, 10 total), Gem (6 new, 58 total), Gooding (1 new, 72 total), Jefferson: (1 new, 21 total), Jerome (4 new, 264 total), Kootenai (34 new, 705 total), Madison (4 new, 51 total), Owyhee (7 new, 80 total), Payette (16 new, 166 total), Teton (1 new, 32 total), Twin Falls (14 new, 726 total).

No new deaths were reported Sunday. To date, 102 Idahoans have died of COVID-19, a case fatality rate of about 0.99%.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare added nine “probable” cases to its data dashboard Sunday, increasing the total number to 739. It also reported 1,862 new tests and 3,179 patients believed to have recovered from the disease.

Nine new hospitalizations, three new admissions to the ICU and eight new cases in health care workers were reported.

Idaho has diagnosed a total of 10,198 COVID-19 cases since March.
