Idaho coronavirus cases dip with fewer cases in the state’s latest hot spots

After a deadly few days in Idaho, no new deaths related to the coronavirus were reported Wednesday, and 15 new cases were confirmed across the state.

It’s the second time in 11 days that 15 or fewer cases have been reported. Idaho’s total number of confirmed cases stands at 2,281.

Twin Falls County had reported three deaths this week and six deaths in six days. The state’s death toll stands at 77, according to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

According to the South Central Public Health District, it reported seven of the state’s 15 new confirmed cases — but Twin Falls, where cases have been rising quickly, only added two. The counties that reported new cases on Wednesday were Ada (5 new, 738 total), Minidoka (4 new, 19 total), Nez Perce (2 new, 72 total), Twin Falls ( 2 new, 278 total), Cassia (1 new, 19 total) and Washington (1 new, 31 total).

Washington, like Twin Falls, had been experiencing rapid case growth.

There are 228 “probable cases” throughout the state, an increase of five from Tuesday. Health and Welfare reports that 1,688 cases are “presumed recovered.”
