Ada, Twin Falls counties report new coronavirus deaths; 36 new cases confirmed

Ada and Twin Falls counties each reported a death related to the coronavirus Monday, and 36 new confirmed cases were added across the state.

Ada County leads the state with 23 deaths related to COVID-19, according to Boise-based Central District Health. Nez Perce has reported 19 deaths, followed by Twin Falls, which has now reported 15, according to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. The statewide death toll stands at 75.

Monday’s numbers reflect cases confirmed on Sunday and Monday. The counties with new cases were Twin Falls (8 new, 268 total), Jerome (7 new, 87 total), Ada (6 new, 728 total), Washington (6 new, 28 total), Minidoka (3 new, 15 total), Gooding (2 new, 22 total), Cassia (1 new, 18 total), Payette (1 new, 18 total), Kootenai (1 new, 66 total) and Bannock (2 new, 12 total). A case was removed from Canyon County’s total (256 total). The statewide confirmed cases total stands at 2,240.

There are 222 “probable cases” throughout the state, an increase of six from Saturday. Health and Welfare reports that 1,649 cases are “presumed recovered.”

DAILY DETAILS

Hospitalizations: Health and Welfare reports that there have been 213 hospitalizations due to the coronavirus, 89 admissions to the ICU and 295 health care workers who have been infected. The hospital and health care numbers are based on cases with completed investigations into contacts, not the full number of positives.

Testing totals: At the end of the day Monday, Health and Welfare reported that 37,847 tests had been completed statewide. About 5.9% have been positive for COVID-19.

Counties with confirmed COVID-19 cases: Ada 728, Adams 3, Bannock 12, Bingham 6, Blaine 497, Bonner 4, Bonneville 18, Camas 1, Canyon 256, Caribou 1, Cassia 18, Custer 2, Elmore 30, Fremont 2, Gem 12, Gooding 22, Idaho 3, Jefferson 5, Jerome 87, Kootenai 66, Latah 5, Lemhi 1, Lincoln 27, Madison 12, Minidoka 15, Nez Perce 70, Owyhee 8, Payette 18, Power 3, Teton 10, Twin Falls 268, Valley 2 and Washington 28.

Counties with community spread: Ada, Bannock, Bingham, Blaine, Bonneville, Canyon, Elmore, Gem, Jefferson, Jerome, Kootenai, Lemhi, Owyhee, Madison, Minidoka, Payette, Teton and Twin Falls.
