Coronavirus: How Idaho compares to Western states in coronavirus cases, deaths, tests

We published data April 1 showing how Idaho compared to states across the West in the fight against the coronavirus that causes the COVID-19 disease.

Now we plan to provide the same comparison on an ongoing basis, in this post.

Below, you’ll see where the 11 Western states in the Lower 48 rank in confirmed cases per capita, tests per capita, deaths per capita, mortality rate and positive testing percentage.

The data sources are the state health departments except with Idaho, for which we use the numbers compiled by the Idaho Statesman from the state’s seven health districts and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

The charts below are based on data published as of 10 p.m. Mountain time Sept. 9.

Reporters Michael Lycklama and Gage Hanson contributed.
