Giant Meridian apartment complex. Affordable apartments in Boise. What’s coming near you

The latest proposed developments, other construction projects and new businesses around Idaho’s Treasure Valley:

Boise

The proposed 102 affordable apartments on the site of the former Smoky Davis meat shop are getting closer to being built.

The city of Boise’s proposal for the five-story, 102-unit building with affordable housing at 2426 N. Arthur St. and 3912 W. State St. is scheduled to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission at 6 p.m. Monday, March 7, at City Hall.

The property is on the northeast corner of the intersection of West State and North Arthur streets.

The building, above one level of podium parking, is planned to have studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. All but one of the units would be for households earning up to 80% of the area median income of Ada County.

The ground floor would have space for a leasing office, common areas, mail room and bike storage, plus about 1,500 square feet for a day care center or a retail business.

Pacific West Communities Inc. and SMR Development are partnering with the city on the project.

Vista Village LLC is applying to build an 85 apartments at 2350 W. Kootenai St., between South Federal Way and South Vista Avenue.

The 85-unit complex, called Station Village, is planned to include two eight-unit buildings, two 22-unit buildings and one 24-unit building.

According to an application filed with the city, plans include a clubhouse and garages.

Rama Group LLC wants to build a 72 apartments at 4819 W. Morris St., near North Orchard Street.

The project is planned to have two 18-unit buildings and three 12-unit buildings, according to an application filed with the city.

Darmody Enterprises is proposing to build 16 apartments at 1428 N. Etheridge Lane, east of the intersection of West Fairview Avenue and North Milwaukee Street.

The project includes one two-story four-plex and two three-story six-unit apartment buildings.

The developer is seeking a conditional use permit. The item is scheduled to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission at 6 p.m. Monday, March 7, at City Hall.

Hayden Homes Idaho LLC is proposing to build 42 single-family houses at 3750 S. Maple Grove Road in Southwest Boise.

The application for the planned unit development is planned to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission at 6 p.m. Monday, March 7, at City Hall.

The proposal includes an annexation and rezoning of 8 acres.

Dave Evans Construction LLC is applying to build 30 condominiums in a three-story building in Harris Ranch in Southeast Boise called Paddock Condominiums.

The address for the building would be 4250 E. Haystack St., an application with the city said.

Developer David Benoit has plans to build 17 townhouses at 2315 S. Broadway Ave.

The project, called the Wyeth Acres Subdivision, includes plans to renovate the existing historic home on the property.

The proposal includes rezoning from single-family residential to medium-density residential. The application to the city says bonus density for the adjacent public transit line is being pursued to allow up to 20 units per acre.

The project is scheduled to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission at 6 p.m. Monday, March 7, at City Hall.

Meridian

Brighton Development Inc. is looking to build 472 apartments next to the Village at Meridian on Fairview Avenue.

The apartments, Record Apartments, would be in two five-story buildings on 10 acres on the northeast corner of Records Way and Fairview.

The complex would have 84 studios, 208 one-bedrooms, 168 two-bedrooms and 12 three-bedrooms.

The Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to hear the proposal at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at City Hall.

Blitmore Estates LLC is looking to build 33 houses about a quarter mile south of Victory Road on the west side of Kentucky Way, a half mile west of Meridian Road.

The development would include pathways and parks, the application said.

The Meridian City Council is scheduled to hear the proposal at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at City Hall.

A development company, Summertown LLC, run by Eric Ritter, is looking to develop 13.8 acres for town houses and single-family homes.

The Summertown subdivision would consist of nine single family homes and 18 two-story townhouses, the application said.

The Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to hear the proposal at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at City Hall.

Meridian High School has opened its new Performing Arts Center.

The West Ada School District began work on the school’s auditorium in spring 2020, a news release said.

The new auditorium features a band room with practice spaces.

“Our band program moved into a new space in August of 2021, and that has made a world of difference to our students,” said Meridian High School Principal Jill Lilienkamp in the release. “When we create beautiful spaces for our performing arts, we get beautiful results in their performances. This is something that has been much needed at our school and for our community.”

Metro Express Car Wash bought the car wash and lube center formerly operated by Fast Eddy’s at 3673 N. Eagle Road.

That marks the company’s 10th location in Idaho, Washington, Montana and Colorado.

The Eddy family will continue to operate the Fast Eddy’s convenience store at the Eagle Road location.
