More questions please! Ask Curious Idaho and we will answer
Curious Idaho — our initiative to answer your questions about the state we call home — is rolling right along. So far our reporters have produced three stories based on your curiosity, and there are more on the way.
Reporter Nicole Blanchard is polishing off your pick from our last voting round: Who makes up our prison population — violent vs. non-violent offenders, first time drug users? Do we need more prisons or better sentencing?
I’m working to answer a Steve Gale’s history question voted on by readers: Why was the pan-handle area of Idaho not made a part of Washington state or Montana?
Look for those stories next week at IdahoStatesman.com.
Now it’s time to feed the beast! We want more questions from you about the state we call home. Whether you’re a longtime Idahoan or a new resident, we know you have things you want to know.
You ask. We will answer!
Here’s how Curious Idaho works
- In the box below, leave your Idaho-related question. It can be about anything — nature, history, politics, people, oddities — so long as there’s a connection to the Gem State.
- Here are some examples to get you started: How did the cross get on Table Rock? What is the average salary of high school teachers in the state? Why does Idaho label its license plates by county?
- We’ll have periodic voting rounds for you to choose from three questions. Cast your vote for the one you think a reporter should tackle.
- Our reporters will track down the answers and check in with the person who submitted winning question. If they want to, that person can be part of finding the answer.
- Look for our Curious Idaho stories online, through social media and in print.
We’re excited to hear from you. So ask away!
