After popular Nampa restaurant expands to Meridian, rave reviews pour in

A local restaurant that has served Canyon County for years is now dishing up Asian cuisine in Meridian.

And based on gushing early feedback, diners might need to pinch themselves with chopsticks to believe they’re not dreaming.

“Sushi in the Meridian??” one Google review sputters, as if being a Meridian resident is akin to being an alum of the Ohio State University.

Expanding east to Eagle Island Marketplace, Sushi Sushi opened a second location at 6700 N. Linder Road in mid-June. The restaurant took over a strip-mall spot that formerly housed a Subway sandwich shop.

Sushi Sushi is a popular destination at 16734 N. Marketplace Blvd. in Nampa’s Treasure Valley Marketplace. It rates 4.4 out of 5 stars on Google, where it has earned nearly 1,100 reviews. It also pulls in 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp.

The Meridian location is raising the bar even higher. Despite being open only for a couple of weeks, it’s already pulled in 28 Google reviews — and rates 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. “Very affordable for Treasure Valley sushi standards,” says the single 4-star review, adding that “customer service was pleasantly delightful. ... Would come back.”

With a diverse menu that offers both sushi and traditional Chinese options, Sushi Sushi has been a mainstream crowd pleaser for nearly a decade. The new Meridian restaurant, which serves beer and wine, features dine-in seating as well as takeout — and, conveniently, DoorDash delivery.

Perusing the menu online provides insight into how truly diverse Sushi Sushi strives to be. While attractive-looking raw-fish offerings such as salmon, spicy tuna and Idaho rolls are big sellers, the restaurant also offers traditional Chinese cuisine such as kung pao and Mongolian beef. There’s even Thai food ranging from curry dishes to basil stir fries.

“So excited to see them open a restaurant here in Meridian,” a Google reviewer writes. “We’ve been driving to Nampa for years as it’s our favorite sushi place. Inside is super-clean and nice, and the servers were very kind and attentive. Menu is the same plus a few extra items we’re excited to try. Tasted just as good! Look forward to many future visits!”

Sushi Sushi’s normal business hours in Meridian are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, according to its website.
