Despite rave reviews, this Boise doughnut shop closed. Here’s what opens next
When Sweet Sensations went dark months ago in Boise, fans had reason for both panic and hope.
The local doughnut and boba shop at 924 S. Vista Ave. has only temporarily closed, according to Google — where it pulls a phenomenal 4.9-out-of-5 star review rating.
And Yelp acts like it’s still open.
It’s not.
The small space at Vista Village shopping center has been leased by an entirely different business. One not related to food or drink.
Clayful Creations LLC is taking it over, owner Sharky Jacaway said. The pottery-based operation will specialize in slip casting. She hopes to debut in July.
Located next to the BBQ4Life restaurant, Sweet Sensations didn’t exactly exploit its branding. The exterior sign never mentioned Sweet Sensations at all, reading “Donut & Boba” when it opened in 2023. Still, some Idahoans clearly loved it. On Google, praise ranged from “This place is dope for a sugar rush” to “hands down the best donuts I have ever had.”
Sweet Sensations had three shops in the Treasure Valley not so long ago. But the local chain has vanished. Both its Meridian stores are closed, too.
One of those, formerly at 1735 W. Franklin Road, suite 120, still sells doughnuts. It’s now home to another local sweets brand, Goatstar Donuts.
