Move to Boise from California? This free restaurant deal is for you, Mom

Being a mom ain’t easy.

For many, it’s a constant cycle of meal planning. Grocery checkout lines. A refrigerator that never stays stocked for more than 12 hours. And let’s not even mention those bottomless pits we call kids.

Actually, wait. Let’s do. Because you’ll need your little angels this Sunday, Mom. To help claim your free meal.

Bring. On. Weinerschnitzel!

To celebrate Mother’s Day, Wienerschnitzel is giving away a free Chili Dog Meal to moms. While foodie-wannabe mothers are sipping mimosas at hifalutin brunches, weenie-lovin’ moms in the know will be noshing on chili-slathered hot dogs.

The giveaway meal comes with a “world-famous chili dog,” a small order of fries and a small soda. All you have to do is provide proof of your “mom-bership.” Translation? “Guests are encouraged to join the celebration with their children or family,” a spokesperson said in an email, “in the spirit of a shared Mother’s Day experience.”

The free mom meal is “a fun, low-stress way for families to celebrate without the long brunch wait times,” the spokesperson said.

This might be true — in most places. But in Idaho, there are only two Wienerschnitzels. And tens of thousands of West Coast transplants. So there could be a short line Sunday at the restaurants, which are at 3136 W. Quintale Drive in Meridian and 110 Shannon Drive in Nampa.

If you’re one of the many Idahoans whose journey to the Boise area weaved through California, you know all about Wienerschnitzel. Founded more than half a century ago in a suburb of Los Angeles, the fast-food chain operates more than 200 restaurants in the Golden State, plus dozens more scattered in other states.

For many folks, Wienerschnitzel just tastes like home.

This 4-out-of-5-star Google review or the Meridian store sums up the ’schnitz perfectly:

“... It definitely isn’t fine dining! But when you got a craving, you just got to feed it. The service is all right, teenagers that mumble a lot — but they did bring it out to us, so that was cool! ... BTW, we got a chili dog, chili cheese fries and the Polish sandwich — I was impressed with the serving sizes, we couldn’t eat it all (not that we should have).”

Love you, Mom.
