After a decade at The Village at Meridian, this bar and restaurant is closing

When self-serve wine mecca Bodovino closed two years ago in downtown Boise, it was the end of an 11-year run.

The other location — at The Village at Meridian — won’t last quite that long.

The last remaining Bodovino plans to shutter May 31, it posted on social media. “Thank you for all your support over the last 10 years!” it wrote, adding that wine and gift cards will be accepted until that date.

Opened in August 2016, the Bodovino at 3630 E. Monarch Sky Lane debuted with a larger food menu than its Boise predecessor, focusing on Italian fare. But its allure still fell heavily on the wine-dispensing machines.

As an Idaho Statesman restaurant review proclaimed shortly after it opened, “operating the wine machines is just plain fun.”

“Bodovino at The Village at Meridian allows our guests to tour through 56 wines on tap while enjoying the ambiance of the heart of the Village,” Bodovino’s website brags. “Relax by the fire or watch the water show at Fountain Square and enjoy one of our many fine wines, beers or cocktails.”

Commenters on Bodovino’s Facebook page expressed disappointment about its looming closure.

“No! This is terrible news,” wrote one.

“The place where I met the amazing woman that would become my wife,” confessed another, adding a sad emoji.
