This new local restaurant, bar and ‘neighborhood hangout’ plans to open in Boise

A new restaurant and watering hole is planned on the Boise Bench.

But details aren’t exactly flowing yet.

A bar and restaurant listed as Lost River Tavern is on track to open in a roughly 3,400-square-foot building with a 500-foot patio at 110 N. Orchard St., according to permits filed with the city of Boise. Owners Lew Pettis and Chris Gerke did not reply to a message earlier this year seeking details. A more recent attempt to arrange an interview with Pettis through Studio H Architects, which is handling the project, also was unsuccessful.

Construction is ongoing at the site, which is surrounded by chain link fence.

Without mentioning Lost River Tavern’s name, Studio H Architects posted a brief description of the concept on its Facebook page in early February.

“Located right in the heart of the community on the Bench, this isn’t just another eatery ... it’s going to be the ultimate destination for family-style pizza and high-quality comfort,” Studio H wrote. “Our team focused on a layout that balances the energy of a busy tavern with the approachable, relaxed atmosphere required for a true neighborhood hangout.”

The total project’s estimated value is $500,000, according to the application.
