Meridian raves about this restaurant’s ‘amazing food.’ It’s getting a second one

Fans of falafels, kebabs and gyros found their mouths watering after Zullee Mediterranean Grill entered Idaho in 2022, opening at The Village at Meridian.

“... Amazing and full of flavor,” wrote one reviewer on Google, where it rates 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Now Zullee is planning a second Meridian store.

The regional brand has leased 2,280 square feet of space at 1041 W. Chinden Blvd. in the Orchard Park development. Owner Ahmed Baqer said the modest but growing chain — originally from Washington but now based in Idaho — plans to open its new restaurant in fall.

Boasting a modern, elegant interior, Zullee Mediterranean Grill is a rebranding of Kabob House, a concept launched in 2011. A decade later, Baquer changed the brand to Zullee. In addition to the Meridian restaurant, Zullee operates Washington locations in Yakima, Spokane and Richland. It also opened a Nampa, Idaho, restaurant (4.7 out of 5 stars) last year.

Customers rave about the food, including the gyro Greek fries: seasoned fries topped with gyro meat, feta cheese, oregano and housemade tzatziki.

Specializing in fresh, healthy-leaning dishes, Zullee keeps prices reasonable while offering an array of tempting menu options. They range from a bowl of housemade lentil soup with pita or a chicken salad with choice of kebab, souvlaki or shawarma, to a falafel sandwich, grilled veggie bowl or a full-on dinner of lamb souvlaki, chicken shawarma or more.

A tasty takeout choice? Zulle’s popular gyro sandwich. It comes with beef and lamb gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, housemade onion mix and housemade tzatziki sauce — all wrapped in a warm pita.
