Growing chain to open 75th restaurant — its first in Eagle — with free food

Mo’ Bettahs is on a roll in the Boise area.

Continuing to expand in Idaho, the Hawaiian-style concept will open its first Eagle restaurant soon at 722 S. Edgewood Lane, according to Kylee Arreaga, senior director of marketing. It will be the fifth Mo’ Bettahs in the Treasure Valley.

The new location plans to offer the chain’s usual store-opening Friends & Ohana preview on Thursday, Feb. 5, before officially debuting Friday, Feb. 6. The Friends & Ohana party will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It’s open to the public; anyone who attends will receive a free mini plate.

Founded in 2008 in Utah, Mo’ Bettahs has evolved into a fast-growing fast-casual brand. The Eagle store will be its 75th location in seven states: Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

“Sharing food is how we show love back home in Hawaii,” co-founder Kalani Mack said in a press release late last year. “... We want every guest who walks through our doors to feel like family.”

Popular menu choices, according to the release, include teriyaki chicken, kalua pig, katsu chicken and pulehu chicken. Proteins are served with white rice and macaroni salad. Takeout is a significant aspect of the business model, but customers also can dine on site.

In November, Mo’ Bettahs opened its first Boise restaurant in a former Del Taco at 1306 S. Broadway Ave. There already were two Mo’ Bettahs stores in Meridian and one in Nampa. Elsewhere in Idaho, the chain operates in Twin Falls, Pocatello, Rexburg and Ammon.
