This Boise coffee shop just closed, so what’s coming next? The beans are spilled

A familiar Southeast Boise coffee shop has poured its last comforting cup, but something fresh is brewing.

After a final day Sunday, Brewed: A European Coffee House closed at 3157 E. Barber Valley Drive. The local brand pulled the plug after “three wonderful years,” a note on the door explained.

“This was not an easy decision, and it comes with a full heart,” it said.

The good news? A new coffee shop will be opening in the same space, the note added. (More on that in a sec.)

Brewed racked up solid reviews during its run: 4.2 out of 5 stars on Yelp and a 4.4 out of 5 on Google. In addition to serving hot and cold coffee drinks, tea and seasonal concoctions, it also created a restaurant, or at least limited cafe, vibe. Food options ranged from pastries and breakfast skillets to a variety of sandwiches, such as grilled cheese and turkey.

The question that wasn’t answered was: What’s opening there next?

Brewed didn’t offer any hints in its goodbye note. But caffeinated online detectives probably solved the mystery.

Bumble Coffee Co., a local trailer and cart, posted heart emojis underneath Brewed’s grateful goodbye statement on Instagram. That same day, Bumble announced on its own Instagram page that it planned to open a brick-and-mortar in January in, yep, Southeast Boise. No specific location was shared for the new store, which will be called Bumble Coffee & Taps. But Bumble is having some fun on its social media teasing things.

Let’s just spill the beans. Bumble confirmed in a message that it will, indeed, be the new tenant.

“The space is being completed renovated with an entirely new feel that is very inviting,” a follow-up message explained. “We will have small bites, pastry options and a limited menu of breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos and lunch sandwiches. We don’t have a full kitchen so it will all be very simple.”

Coffee will be the main focus, but the “taps” in the name? That refers to beer, of course — meaning “we will have the added option of beer and wine when we open. We will also have flights for beer, wine and coffee as well.”

So hang tough, Southeast Boise residents. An exciting new hangout is on the way.

Serving more than coffee, Brewed also had a food menu with options including caprese sandwiches, breakfast burritos, avocado toast and more.
