This ‘mouthwatering’ Boise chain had three restaurants. Two just closed

A longtime local chain known for blended drinks and tasty sandwiches has all but gone dark.

Tree City Juice & Smoothie Cafe recently dwindled from three locations to a single counter at the Boise State Student Union food court, which remains active.

The brick-and-mortar restaurants at 8249 Franklin Road in Boise and 3355 E. Fairview Ave. in Meridian are inexplicably shuttered. As of Wednesday, there were no notes posted at the stores indicating whether the situation might be temporary. A hand truck sat on the floor inside the Boise cafe. Tree City’s website claims all three stores are open.

Tree City offers a “mouthwatering selection” of paninis and wraps, it says, ranging from BBQ Chicken and Pesto Chicken to Tuna and Mediterranean. It also serves bowls.

The namesake smoothies draw the attention of most customers. Those come in an array of flavors such as All Star Acai, Citrus Sensation, Groovy Green and many more.

On Yelp, Tree City’s location ranked 3.2 out of 5 stars in Boise and 3.4 in Meridian.
