New restaurant already ‘opening soon’ where longtime Boise eatery was forced out

Days after a longtime Chinese restaurant was shown the door by its landlord, another Asian concept has plans to take over the same spot.

VietFood is “opening soon” at 8630 W. Overland Road, the longtime home of Lucky Palace, according to a post on its Facebook page. A Vietnamese concept, the restaurant also has filed paperwork through an architect with the city of Boise to update the space.

Details are scarce. VietFood says it serves “authentic Vietnamese cuisine.” It posted a description on social media of Vietnamese beef noodle soup (pho bo), giving an indication of where the menu likely is headed.

The phone number listed on VietFood’s Facebook page is not working. It’s also worth noting that VietFood alternately lists its name as Vietfoods, plural, in many references.

Lucky Palace closed at the end of August after its owner told the Idaho Statesman that he was not given the opportunity to renew the lease. That restaurant had operated for more than 17 years, he said.
