Finally, Meridian! Much-anticipated restaurant to open with ‘full experience’

When Kneaders Bakery & Cafe closed in Meridian three years ago, it left the nearest Idaho location two long hours away.

“I would drive to Twin Falls and back,” a commenter wrote on the Utah-based chain’s Facebook page, “but the gas would be a killer.”

No need to fuel up. Kneaders is back in the Boise area.

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 a.m., Kneaders will celebrate the grand opening of a new store May 30 at 1245 W. Chinden Blvd. in Meridian. The general public will be let inside the restaurant — part of the Orchard Park (formerly Linder Village) development — starting at 7 a.m.

Even sweeter? The first 100 customers will get free Chunky Cinnamon French Toast.

“The new Meridian location brings with it the full Kneaders experience,” a press release promises, “including artisan breads baked daily in-house, all-day breakfast, handcrafted sandwiches, seasonal pastries, and gift-ready gourmet treats.”

If you’re not familiar with Kneaders, you might be surprised how fired up the return will make some Idahoans. This new restaurant’s opening was delayed significantly. Originally, it was planned for 2023. (Dave’s Hot Chicken took over the former Kneaders building.)

“We’re incredibly excited to be back in Meridian,” David Vincent, Kneaders president/CEO, said in a prepared statement. “This community has always meant a lot to us, and we’re proud to be back in Meridian, providing fresh, high-quality ingredients and creating a space where we can serve and strengthen our community. Our new location is more than a place to eat, it’s a place to gather, connect, and feel at home.”

These tarts have “shortbread shells imported from Switzerland and delicately filled with key lime filling,” according to Kneaders. “Topped with whipped cream and garnished with fresh lime, you won’t be able to just have one!”
