This chain had one Treasure Valley restaurant months ago. Now a 5th is opening — in Boise
When Marco’s Pizza entered the Treasure Valley, it dipped a toe into the pool — with a single restaurant at Ten Mile and McMillan Roads in Meridian.
But six years later? “CANNONBALL!”
Marco’s began making waves in the market around June. Three more restaurants have opened in recent months — at 3135 E. Overland Road in Meridian, 1222 N. Meridian Road in Kuna and 2609 S. 10th Ave. in Caldwell.
Now it’s Boise’s turn. The area’s fifth Marco’s location will open Monday at 7375 W. Fairview Ave. It shares a building with a Starbucks Coffee on the busy corner that intersects Cole Road.
A counter-service operation that focuses on takeout and delivery, Marco’s is “known for its dough made from scratch and its three fresh signature cheeses,” according to a press release.
Local standouts such as Lulu’s Pizza, Americana Pizza and The Wylder are not Marco’s main competitors. Founded in Ohio in 1978, Marco’s battles with ubiquitous chains such as Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s.
Right now at Marco’s, you can buy a large Triple Pepperoni Magnifico pizza for $11.99. Marco’s Pepperoni Magnifico is “pepperoni, our signature Old World Pepperoni, romesan seasoning, our original sauce and signature three cheeses,” according to the menu.
In addition to pizza, Marco’s also cranks out pizza bowls, subs, salads, sides (cheesy bread and wings) and desserts.
Most Marco’s restaurants are in the eastern half of the United States. But if you check out the store locator on its website, you’ll see that the invasion of the West has begun in places such as Idaho.
Calling itself “one of the nation’s fastest-growing pizza brands,” Marco’s operates more than 1,200 stores in 34 states, and also has locations in Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Bahamas.
