Restaurant News

It was a familiar Eagle Road restaurant for nearly two decades. Its future? Way different

The future of a closed chain restaurant near the intersection of Eagle Road and Fairview Avenue will be entirely different.

Bank on it.

The former Baja Fresh Mexican Grill at 1440 N. Eagle Road is on track to become a JPMorgan Chase retail bank, according to permits filed with the city of Meridian. A construction crew is working on the 3,002-square-foot building. Faint remnants of the former restaurant’s logo are still visible where they were torn off the exterior.

Baja Fresh lasted for almost two decades in the spot after opening there in early 2003. It was the second Baja Fresh in the Treasure Valley. The first, at 992 N. Milwaukee St. in Boise, also closed in recent years and is now a Honey Baked Ham Co.

Baja Fresh no longer operates in the Gem State.
