‘With great disappointment,’ this Meridian restaurant will close. It blames The Village

One of the original anchor restaurants at The Village at Meridian will close this summer.

But the outdoor shopping mall has big plans for the soon-vacant space.

Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar, 3690 E. Monarch Sky Lane, plans to shutter next month, it announced on its website — “with great disappointment.”

“Our last day of operation will be around Aug. 15,” Twigs wrote. “Since 2013, the Twigs team has been dedicated to providing fantastic food and drinks to the Meridian community. Their dedication and service have been tremendous, and we truly thank them for their friendship and hard work.”

Unlike many restaurants announcing their demise, Twigs did not blame the economy or rising food costs. Instead, the regional chain pointed at Village at Meridian owner CenterCal Properties.

“Despite our efforts to extend our lease, CenterCal Properties has decided not to renew our agreement,” Twigs wrote. “We regret that we could not come to terms after such a long tenure at The Village.”

Hugh Crawford, general manager at The Village, said that Twigs has been “an incredible partner” for the past decade.

“But with the expiration of their lease, we wanted to take the opportunity to elevate the dining experience at The Village at Meridian,” Crawford explained in an email, “and secured an incredible restaurant concept that will be bringing something new and exciting to The Village. We are hoping for an announcement of this restaurant in the next few weeks.”

Based in Spokane, Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar has eight locations, according to its website: six in Washington, one in Idaho and one in Utah.

“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us over the years,” Twigs wrote. “It has been our pleasure to serve you, and we will certainly miss being a part of your community.

“We hope you can dine with us once more before our doors close. Thank you for your support and understanding.”
