This chain has one restaurant in the Boise area. It’s about to be everywhere. (Up to 12?)
If you’ve never heard of Marco’s Pizza, you are not alone.
The Toledo-based chain has only two Idaho restaurants: one in Meridian (which closed in 2022 at Ten Mile and McMillan roads, then unexpectedly reopened months later), and one in Ammon (a place that, let’s face it, many Idaho transplants have never heard of, either).
But Marco’s is about to spread its pepperoni across the Treasure Valley.
Three new stores will open soon. And a fourth is in the works.
Concluding that Boise is a “strong growth market,” the brand “envisions ... up to 12 locations” in these parts, according to a media release.
The first two new restaurants are slated to open in June: one in Caldwell at 2609 S. 10th Ave., suite 105, and another in Kuna at 1222 N. Meridian Road. By the end of summer, a third is slated to debut in Meridian at 3135 E. Overland Road.
Site selection has started for a fourth location, according to the brand’s media relations coordinator. That would bring the total number of Marco’s restaurants in the Treasure Valley to five.
Marco’s was founded in 1978. A counter-service operation that focuses on takeout and delivery, it’s “known for its dough made from scratch and its three fresh signature cheeses,” according to the release.
Translation: Locals such as Lulu’s Pizza, Americana Pizza or The Wylder do not need to break a sweat. Marco’s won’t gun for the spendier upper-tier market. Marco’s main competitors are ubiquitous chains such as Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s. Right now at Marco’s, you can buy a large Pepperoni Magnifico pizza for $9.99.
In addition to pizza, the menu also features pizza bowls, subs, salads, sides (cheesy bread and wings) and desserts.
Most Marco’s restaurants are in the eastern half of the United States. But if you check out the store locator on its website, you’ll see new locations popping up in the West — in places such as Idaho.
Calling itself “one of the nation’s fastest-growing pizza brands,” Marco’s operates 1,200 stores in 34 states, and also has locations in Puerto Rico and the Bahamas, according to the media release.
