‘Closed until further notice’: Garden City dog park with beer bar plays dead

A Garden City dog park that was marketed as part social club, part beer bar, is now playing dead.

The permanence of the situation remains to be seen.

Clubhound, 415 E. Remington St., closed at the end of May. The 2.5-acre canine destination had opened in 2024 with what a press release called “ample play space for dogs, both on-leash and off-leash, a large shaded patio, indoor space, an area to host private events” and more. With beer, wine, coffee and snacks for sale, Clubhound was a place configured to entertain both dogs and their owners.

In early June, Clubhound explained on its Instagram page that it had “officially temporarily closed.” In a comment, @joinclubhound said that Clubhound had "closed until further notice” while waiting for a company buyout from Idaho Pups & Ales, a similar concept in Meridian. “As soon as they have (made) any kind of decision,” @joinclubhound wrote, “I’ll ensure the proper advertisements are blasted out all over the place.”

Clubhound’s original business model required a day pass or membership for dog owners. But that formula eventually was abandoned, and free entry was allowed prior to the dog park shuttering.

Clubhound is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars on Yelp and 4.6 out of 5 on Google. “I have been bringing my dogs here since they opened, and it’s a great place to hang out, grab a coffee or a beer while your dogs get to play,” a recent Google review says. “The staff is very friendly, and it’s a great atmosphere.”
