This comedy icon is coming, Boise. Will he sell out the arena in advance again?
It’s going to be a massive year for Idaho fans of Adam Sandler.
The entertainment legend will reprise arguably his most beloved role when “Happy Gilmore 2” arrives July 25 on Netflix.
Three months later, Sandler himself will travel to the Treasure Valley for a night of music and laughter.
Sandler’s You’re My Best Friend Tour will hit Ford Idaho Center Arena at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27. Tickets will cost $39.50 to $179.50 through fordidahocenter.com and become available to the general public at noon Friday, June 27.
An Idaho Center Insider presale runs from noon to 10 p.m. Thursday, June 26. (Promo code: “DEEDS.”) The show is for mature audience members ages 16 and older.
Unlike most stand-up concerts, this won’t be Sandler simply reciting jokes into a microphone. As longtime fans know, the Hollywood A-lister also plays guitar and sings mega-silly songs.
When Sandler performed at the Idaho Center in 2023, the show sold out in advance — 8,500 tickets — according to Creston Thornton, president of promoter Live Nation’s mountain region.
Old-school fans remember Sandler’s early days on “Saturday Night Live.” Or might grin thinking about 1990s comedies such as “Happy Gilmore,” “The Waterboy” and “The Wedding Singer.” Others appreciate his dramatic acting chops in more-recent films such as “Uncut Gems” and “Hustle.”
As Wikipedia says: “Primarily a comedic leading actor in films, his accolades include an Independent Spirit Award, alongside nominations for three Grammy Awards, five Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 2023, Sandler was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.”
Oh, and heads up, “Happy Gilmore” fans. Hockey sticks will not be allowed inside the Idaho Center arena.
