‘Beloved cult’ dessert brand opens Boise bakery with free warm cookies, free delivery

Prepare for after-dark sugar bombs, Boise night owls.

And maybe a guilty trip to the 24-hour gym?

Bakery chain Insomnia Cookies will open its first Idaho store Saturday at 900 W. Royal Blvd., east of Ann Morrison Park. It’s on the street level of the Uncommon Boise apartment complex, which provides student living near the Boise State campus.

Insomnia will celebrate with two promotions. Both are pretty sweet.

From noon until 3 a.m. (yes, 3 a.m.) Saturday, anyone who signs up for a new Insomnia Rewards membership will get one free classic cookie. (No purchase necessary.)

Kicking off Sunday, customers in the surrounding area — BSU and nearby neighborhoods — can get free delivery using the code “Boise.” That offer will be good through Nov. 17.

Insomnia Cookies delivers. Even in the wee hours.

Insomnia’s new bakery marks the 304th location for the chain, which describes itself in a press release as a “beloved cult brand known for serving warm cookies all day and late into the night.”

Insomnia will offer in-store, pickup and delivery options, according to the release. Store hours in Boise will be 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, noon to 3 a.m. Saturdays and noon to 1 a.m. Sundays.

“From the Classic Chocolate Chunk cookie to favorites like Snickerdoodle and Confetti Deluxe, delicious ice cream flavors, decadent brookies, brownies, and blondies, a full slate of vegan options and a frequently-rotating limited-edition menu, the brand’s offerings satisfy every sweet tooth ...” the release says.

“Founded in a University of Pennsylvania dorm room by then-student Seth Berkowitz, Insomnia Cookies has been feeding the insatiable hunger of loyal Insomniacs since 2003.”
