Update: ‘Woohoo!’ Heat back on at Boise brewery, bottle shop in time for Halloween fun

New Colony Beer Co., a Boise brewery, taproom and bottle shop, announced Tuesday on Facebook that its heat was back on, allowing the business to reopen and advertise the showing of Halloween movies.

“Thank you everyone for the support during our wild times,” New Colony posted online. “It hasn’t been easy, but with customers like ours, it makes everything a bit better.

“ ... Come on by and warm up with a dark beer and some candy.”

New Colony, located at 420 N. Orchard St., shared news on social media last week that its heater was not working, something that dropped the building temperature to an unacceptable level to be open.

Beer drinkers normally prefer their beverage cold, right?

But there are limits.

New Colony Beer Co., a Boise brewery, taproom and bottle shop, has closed because of its building temperature. The situation is intended to be temporary. New Colony shared the news through social media on Oct. 27, posting a photo of a handwritten sign on the door.

“Due to our landlord’s unwillingness to repair our heater,” it says in part, “we are forced to close until further notice.”

New Colony wrote on Facebook that the heater “is not working at all, and we are now forced to temporarily close and cancel all upcoming events until this issue is resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have this issue resolved as quickly as possible.”

Launched in 2022 after an ownership change, New Colony is a rebrand of Craft Brewers of Boise. In addition to being a nanobrewery and bottle shop, New Colony serves food that includes pizza, wings and nachos. It only has a couple of Yelp reviews but rates 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.

When open, New Colony hosts events ranging from trivia nights to live music.
