‘OMG’ this Boise restaurant has Idaho’s best fried chicken, Yelp says. Google reviews agree
If you’re craving the best fried chicken in Idaho, look no further than KFC in Boise.
No, not the ubiquitous Colonel Sanders chain.
Think Korean fried chicken.
The Gem State’s top bird is served at Han’s Chimaek, 1716 S. Broadway Ave., according to a newly published Yelp list of the “best fried chicken in every state.”
Locally owned Han’s Chimaek specializes in Korean fried chicken and beer, a combination made in flavor heaven. And although tons of fried chicken options exist in the Treasure Valley, if you’ve ever tasted the Korean variety, you’ll be hard-pressed to argue with Yelp’s pick.
Double-fried, juicy, crunchy and delicious, it’s just soooo good.
And just in case you’re still skeptical about Yelp’s choice for Idaho’s tastiest fried chicken? Han’s Chimaeak also rates a truly exceptional 4.8 out of 5.0 stars on Google reviews — out of a whopping 393 reviews. Find another fried chicken restaurant with support like that.
Granted, it ain’t cheap. And definitely not at Han’s. You’ll pay $17.50 for six or seven wings, or $22.50 for an order of boneless dark meat. The online menu at Han’s no longer lists half or whole birds, but those were going for $19.50 and $34.99 in a Yelp user photo of a menu posted last year.
“People get mad at the price,” a Google reviewer wrote a month ago. “Don’t matter the price! Great food!”
“OMG THIS PLACE IS GOOD,” a Yelp reviewer wrote. “If you’re craving Asian style wings, this is your spot. The wings are a lot larger than I expected.”
Maybe this Google review says it best: “A true hidden gem in Boise ... .”
A bit spendy or not, you should try it at least once. You have a choice of sauces at Han’s. If you’re a newbie, go with yangnyeom, a signature sweet and spicy sauce. (Same recommendation if you try the Treasure Valley’s other Korean fried chicken restaurant, Vons Chicken, at 950 E. Fairview Ave. in Meridian. It rates 4.7 out of 5.0 on Google reviews.)
Created in conjunction with global news publication Insider, the “best fried chicken” article was crafted using similar methodology to other Yelp “best of” lists. According to Insider, “Yelp identified businesses in the restaurants and food categories with a large concentration of reviews mentioning ‘fried chicken,’ and then ranked those spots using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews.”
