Generation-X concert fans in Boise will be out in force for at least one concert this summer.

Counting Crows has been scheduled to perform Sept. 21 with fellow rockers Dashboard Confessional at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater. The Thursday evening show will start at 7 p.m. and is part of the Banshee Season Tour.

Tickets go on sale to the general public for $39.50 to $119.50 (plus fees) at 10 a.m. March 17 through fordidahocenter.com. Presales also will be available.

Formed in 1991 in San Francisco, Counting Crows soon hit the commercial jackpot with a rootsy, hook-filled debut album, 1993’s “August and Everything After.” Powered by the ubiquitous hit “Mr. Jones” (and singer Adam Duritz’s signature dreadlocks), it went on to sell more than 7 million copies in the United States — “at the time the fastest-selling record since Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind,” the Chicago Sun-Times wrote in a 2018 retrospective.

Counting Crows has released a total of seven studio albums and sold more than 20 million copies. Other hits include “Round Here,” “Rain King,” “A Long December” and “Hanginaround.” (Incidentally, Duritz sheared the dreads in 2019 — undoubtedly blowing some fans’ minds.)

Dashboard Confessional sprung from Florida in the early 2000s, impacting the alternative-rock and emo scenes. The brainchild of frontman Chris Carrabba, Dashboard Confessional quickly became a force on radio and MTV. The group’s third album, “A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar,” released in 2003, was its biggest. It included the hits “Hands Down” and “Rapid Hope Loss.” Other fan favorites include “Vindicated” (from the “Spider-Man 2” movie), “Stolen” and “Remember to Breathe.”

The concert show is the latest in a long list of outdoor shows already booked this summer at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa. For more information, visit fordidahocenter.com.
