With 24 #1 hits, this ‘household name’ will headline her first Boise concert in 15 years

The Queen of Country is finally coming back to Idaho.

Singer Reba McEntire — just Reba to fans — will headline a concert Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Ford Idaho Center arena in Nampa. Terri Clark and The Isaacs will open.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, for $49.75 to $229.75 at fordidahocenter.com.

The Nampa concert will be McEntire’s first Gem State appearance in 15 years. In 2008, she co-headlined with Kelly Clarkson at Taco Bell Arena (now ExtraMile) in Boise.

A staple of country radio in the 1980s and 1990s, McEntire has had 24 #1 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Her first was “Can’t Even Get the Blues” in 1982. The last? “Turn on the Radio” in 2010.

She’s sold more than 56 million albums worldwide.

Also an accomplished actress, McEntire starred as a fictional version of herself in “Reba,” a TV series that aired from 2001 to 2007.

(And come on — she was the best thing about 1990’s horror-comedy movie “Tremors.”)

It’s not that Reba ever went away. But at 67, the Oklahoma native is enjoying a bit of a resurgence. Her arena tour last year averaged more than 10,000 fans per concert, according to Creston Thornton, president of promoter Live Nation’s mountain region.

A press release about McEntire’s fall tour describes her as a “multimedia entertainment mogul,” adding that she “has become a household name through a successful career that spans across music, television, film, theater and retail. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Bowl member has won 16 ACM Awards, 15 American Music Awards, nine People’s Choice Awards, six CMA Awards, three Grammy Awards, a GMA Dove Award and was a 2018 Kennedy Center Honors recipient, in addition to multiple philanthropic and leadership honors.”
