Sorry, Boise: ‘Selling great,’ arena concert canceled after singer hospitalized
Put those portable blenders back in storage, Parrotheads.
The Treasure Valley won’t become Margaritaville next month after all.
Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band have canceled their Oct. 12 performance at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
The nixed evening comes after a tour update Tuesday on Buffett’s website.
“Due to health issues and brief hospitalization,” the statement says, “Jimmy will need to refrain from touring for the rest of the year. On doctor’s orders, he must take this time to recuperate and heal. Jimmy looks forward to getting back on stage next year.”
While some of the affected dates have been rescheduled, two were canceled. Along with Nampa, a concert in Salt Lake City won’t happen.
Ticket refunds will be issued automatically.
This would have been the first Nampa concert for Buffett, 75. Best known for his 1977 smash “Margaritaville,” he’s played twice before at ExtraMile Arena in Boise, when it was called Taco Bell Arena — once in 2012 and again in 2019.
The concert inside the Ford Idaho Center’s arena had been “selling great,” said Creston Thornton, president of promoter Live Nation’s mountain region.
“We’re looking forward to bringing him back, hopefully, next year,” Thornton added, “maybe in the amphitheater.”
