This ‘anti-popstar’ is coming to the Idaho Center. Here’s why she left the Grammys early
Outdoor concert season is still months away in Boise, but the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater has announced its season-opening act.
Singer Halsey will headline a 7 p.m. show on Wednesday, June 15, with guest The Marias. It’s part of the vocalist’s “Love and Power Tour.”
Halsey, 27, attended the 64th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night but left early. The singer — who uses the pronouns she/they — “walked the carpet and stuck around to see pals in BTS, but warned fans ahead of time to take it easy on her because she was still on the mend from a recent surgery,” according to Billboard.
“The last time I attended the Grammys was 2017, and it was three days after I had my first endometriosis surgery,” Halsey wrote on social media Saturday. “I walked the carpet with my stitches still in. As luck would have it, I’m attending tomorrow for the first time in years and I had surgery again (you guessed it) three days ago. Only posting this to say, if you see me be gentle lol I’m fragile. Fragile but excited.”
Halsey was dressed in hospital garb in the accompanying photo.
After exploding on social media in 2014 before even being signed to a record label, Halsey released a first album in 2015. Since then, they have become known for hit singles such as “Without Me” and “Closer,” a collaboration with The Chainsmokers. Outspoken and unfazed by occasional controversy, Halsey is a self-described “anti-popstar.” Halsey endorsed Bernie Sanders in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary and went on to launch a video series with him, “Bernie and Halsey Discuss America.”
Tickets to the concert become available at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, at fordidahocenter.com for $30, $39.50, $59.50, $79.50, $99.50 and $119.50.
