This band will play an outdoor Boise concert before headlining two nights at Red Rocks

We must be Stoopid, Boise.

This band just keeps coming to the Treasure Valley every summer. And we just keep buying tickets.

Or maybe Slightly Stoopid is just that good? After all, the Southern California reggae-rockers will headline two nights at the renowned Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado this summer after their tour rolls through Boise.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, doubters.

Returning to the Boise market for the 10th time in 12 summers, Slightly Stoopid will perform Friday, June 12, at Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden. Pepper, Common Kids and Don Carlos will open. (Be aware: Music starts early — at 5 p.m.) Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, for $25 to $37 at Ticketmaster.

Past tour mates Iration — who performed with Slightly Stoopid in 2017 at Memorial Stadium in Boise — also are headed to Outlaw Field. That’s a Wednesday, Aug. 19, concert, with openers Tribal Seeds “and more.” Music begins at 6 p.m. for that show. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, for $35 to $40 at Ticketmaster.

If the key to building a fan base is touring, you have to give Slightly Stoopid credit. The last time the band skipped summer in the Treasure Valley was in 2016. Over the years, Slightly Stoopid has played venues ranging from the Botanical Garden and Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater to Memorial Stadium and the now-defunct Eagle River Pavilion. Before that, the group paid its Boise dues headlining indoor shows at The Big Easy Concert House, now called the Knitting Factory.

Formed in 1994, Slightly Stoopid has made outdoor touring a summer tradition since 2006. (Hence, the name of this tour: “Summer Traditions 2020.”)

Looking to spice things up? Plan a road trip to Morrison, Colorado. Red Rocks is one of the nation’s most famous, scenic outdoor venues. Slightly Stoopid headlines there Aug. 15-16 — with “Friends” — including a set of acoustic-roots music at sunset on Aug. 16.
