After 11 years, this chain has closed in downtown Boise — and Idaho. Here’s the scoop
Tough news, ice cream fans.
Ben & Jerry’s officially closed in Boise on March 1, according to a company spokesperson. Known for quirky flavors and its annual Free Scoop Day, the chain was a downtown staple for over a decade.
The small franchise store opened in April 2009 at 103 N. 10th St. in the historic Gem Noble building. (Longtime Boiseans might remember the small space as the original Zen Bento location, before that restaurant moved to the larger space next door.)
So what’s the scoop? A note in the window explains that Ben & Jerry’s “franchise term was fulfilled and we have chosen to not renew another 10 years. Thank you to our loyal customers and amazing community. Peace and love.”
Founded in 1978 in Burlington, Vermont, Ben & Jerry’s has hundreds of scoop shops worldwide.
The Boise store was the only Idaho location.
