More ‘amazing’ fast food? Growing Boise burger chain opens new store today — its 7th.

If you’re going to eat at a hamburger chain, might as well make it local, right?

Good Burger, founded in 2018 in Boise, will open its newest location today at 7610 W. State St. (Three days earlier than originally reported.) The store is next to national chains Chipotle Mexican Grill and Jersey Mike’s Subs. Smashburger closed in that spot in December after a three-year run.

This makes seven Good Burger locations.

Good Burger founder and CEO Nicholas Jones told the Idaho Statesman in September that his goal was to have 50 Good Burger stores operating by 2026. “We’re going gangbusters with it,” he said.

For now, most Good Burger restaurants are in the Boise area. But the chain has started expanding into Utah, where it has two.

Jones attributes the burgeoning company’s success to grassroots growth via satisfied customers.

“They come, they have a burger, they’re like, ‘Holy crap, this is an amazing burger’ ... and they come again,” he told the Statesman in 2018. “That’s the beauty of that. There’s not much science behind it.”

In the past, he has bragged that Good Burger’s fries — which he personally “engineered” — are the best in Idaho.

“We’ve got special batter on them with special seasoning,” he said.

Good Burger’s menu falls into the typical fast-food to fast-casual price range, although Yelp reviewers have described it as “a little pricey.” The namesake Good Burger is $6.27, while a bacon-powered Nick Burger is $7.27. A smaller Nick Jr. burger costs $3.27. Grab a large order of fries for $3.87.

Along with Kobe beef and gluten-free bun upgrades, Good Burger sells chicken sandwiches, salads and shakes, too.

Along with soft drinks, beer is available at the new location on State Street near Gary Lane. But unlike the Good Burgers in downtown Boise and Meridian, there isn’t a self-serve beer wall.
