After opening it 3 years ago, Colorado-based hamburger chain closes Boise restaurant.
Apparently, it wasn’t a smash long-term.
Smashburger has closed its Boise restaurant at 7610 W. State St. The store was shuttered because it was underperforming, according to a company spokesperson. It debuted in summer 2016 at the North Pointe commercial and residential development, next to fellow chains Chipotle Mexican Grill and Jersey Mike’s Subs.
Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Smashburger has four remaining stores in the Treasure Valley.
Founded in 2007, the chain serves gourmet burgers, chicken sandwiches and fries in a fast-casual setting. Customers order specialty burgers from the menu or build their own from a list of toppings and buns. The meat patties are called “smashed” because they are cooked on a flattop grill using a high-heat method that attempts to seal in juices.
Idaho customers can bite into a Smashburger at 8247 W. Franklin Road in Boise; at the Boise Airport; at 3223 E. Louise Drive at The Portico in Meridian; and at 1467 Caldwell Blvd. next to Karcher Mall in Nampa
