Call it expansion. Call it ambition. Or just call it a “Good thing.”

Since opening its first restaurant in the Boise Towne Square food court in 2018, Good Burger has exhibited an inclination toward rapid growth.

The local chain, which has four locations in the Treasure Valley and recently infiltrated Utah, plans to open yet another Boise restaurant Feb. 27 at 7610 W. State St. The new store will be next to national chains Chipotle Mexican Grill and Jersey Mike’s Subs, serving Boise customers in the North Pointe commercial and residential development.

The spot will be familiar to many fast-casual hamburger fans. In December, Colorado-based Smashburger — which operates more than 300 locations in 36 states and eight countries — closed in that spot after a three-year run.

Good Burger founder and CEO Nicholas Jones told the Idaho Statesman in September that his goal was to have 50 Good Burger locations by 2026. “We’re going gangbusters with it,” he said.

“Good Burger” was the name of a 1997 cult comedy movie about a fast-food joint. The nostalgia adds Nickelodeon-laced appeal to menu items such as the namesake Good Burger ($6.27) and smaller Nick Jr. burger ($3.27). Along with Kobe beef and gluten-free bun upgrades, Good Burger offers chicken sandwiches, salads, fries and shakes. Good Burger locations in Downtown Boise and in Meridian also include a self-serve beer wall. Beer will be available at the new State Street location, but there won’t be a beer wall.
