Do you miss Andy’s Deli? This new Boise restaurant should make you hungry and happy
Andy’s Deli unexpectedly closed last month in Downtown Boise, but Sarah’s Bagel Cafe plans to keep its memory alive.
Sarah’s, which has restaurants in Meridian and Nampa, is ready to take over the space at 840 W. Idaho St.
The restaurant is awaiting final inspection from the city of Boise, co-owner Tiffany Chea says.
As soon as that happens? Breakfast is served. And lunch.
“Hopefully by the end of the week,” Chea says. “I’m hoping that, but totally not sure. I’m 50-50.”
When Sarah’s does fire up the griddle, several favorites from the Andy’s era will reappear.
“The daily specials are all from Andy’s,” Chea says.
Freshly mounted window posters advertise boba drinks, burritos, a Philly cheese steak, croissant sandwiches, and bagel sandwiches made with roast beef or sausage and bacon.
Inside the space, a lengthy menu is posted above the counter.
Breakfast customers will find lots of sub-$5 bagels and croissants. An array of espresso drinks also is available.
Ready for lunch? Sarah’s offers several standard sandwiches such as a Ham or BLT.
If you’re feeling special, grab a “special combination sandwich” such as a Turkey Club ($6.49) or Sarah’s Wrap ($6.49). The Philly Cheese Steak ($6.99) and 9th St. Reuben ($6.99) are holdovers from the Andy’s days, Chea says.
Daily specials also will bring a smile to former Andy’s customers. Those include Meatloaf ($8.49) on Mondays, Chicken Strips ($8.49) on Tuesdays, Finger Steak ($8.49) on Wednesdays, Lasagna ($8.49) on Thursdays and Pot Roast ($9.99) on Fridays. All come with fried rice or mashed potatoes and gravy, except for the lasagna, which comes with a red baked potato.
Soups and salads also will be available.
