Boise Hempfest! 5 Things to Do This Weekend in Boise

1. GET TO KNOW CANNABIS

The second annual Boise Hempfest will fill the air with, um, education from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Julia Davis Park. There will be bands, prizes and lots of talk about the subject of the day. It’s free. Questions? Email boisehempfest420@gmail.com.

2. ROCK OUT

Sweet leaf? Try Sweetwater. The California-based Harlis Sweetwater Band is back at the Sapphire Room at the Riverside Hotel on Friday night. This group unleashes soulful, gritty blues-rock.

3. HIT THE MARKET

The Capital City Public Market opens Saturday along 8th Street between Bannock and Main in Downtown Boise. More than 100 vendors will set up from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It’s a Saturday tradition starting now through Dec. 16.

4. CHASE AN EGG

The Capital Community Egg Hunt — from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Meridian’s Kleiner Park — claims to be “the largest free family event in the Treasure Valley and one of the largest in the nation.” (So either definitely go ... or avoid like crazy?) Here’s a list of the weekend’s Easter egg hunts.

5. CHASE FOOD TRUCKS

UPDATE: CANCELED BECAUSE OF WEATHER. If you’re in Meridian, head downtown from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday for a food truck rally in celebration of National Library Week. You also can learn about this wild new book-a-bike program that lets you check out bicycles with your library card. Read more about the Idaho food truck scene here.
