2017 All-Idaho high school football teams
One was one of the country’s most sought-after recruits. Another led his team to new heights. And another racked up nearly 4,000 all-purpose yards this fall. But they all share one accolade — an All-Idaho Football Player of the Year honor. Here are the players and coaches of the year and full first and second teams.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Edward Becker, Genesee
The 6-0, 215-pound senior dominated at running back with 1,363 yards and 24 TDs while also posing a threat at receiver (880 yards, 11 TDs). At linebacker, he added 54 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two INTs.
“He was a dominant football player in every game he played this year,” Prairie coach Ryan Hasselstrom said. “Extremely difficult to block on defense and had really good vision and balance as a ballcarrier.”
COACH OF THE YEAR
Ryan Hasselstrom, Prairie
He led the Pirates to their second state title in four seasons with an upset of previously unbeaten Genesee.
