Dead man identified, but how he ended up in a Boise canal still unclear
Jared Tate Maupin, 31, of Boise, was found dead in a canal Sunday morning. His cause of death is still being confirmed, Ada County Coroner Dotti Owens wrote while announcing his name Monday afternoon.
There were no obvious signs of trauma and no foul play is suspected, said Owens and Boise police spokeswoman Haley Williams.
“It's believed the body was in the water for a day or two,” Williams said.
With toxicology tests pending, it may take several weeks for the coroner’s office to confirm a cause of death, Owens wrote.
The body was spotted about 9 a.m. Sunday behind a business in the 4100 block of Eagle Road about 9 a.m., an Ada County dispatcher confirmed.
