Transformer fire closes I-84 west of Mountain Home

Interstate 84 west of Mountain Home was closed Monday morning as emergency crews worked to control a fire caused by an electrical transformer.

The roadway closed in both directions one mile west of Mountain Home — between exits 90 and 95 — and authorities asked travelers to use an alternate route until the scene was cleared.

The Idaho Transportation Department issued an alert at 6:56 a.m.
