5-year-old Boise boy drowns in home pool
Ilai Mizrachi-Gabbitas died in an accidental drowning at a Boise home Tuesday night, according to the Ada County coroner.
The 5-year-old boy was pronounced dead at 6:55 p.m. at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, the coroner’s report says.
The accident occurred in a pool at a home on East Boise Avenue. The Boise Police Department did not provide any other details about the boy’s death.
Ilai was the son of pastry chef Moshit Mizrachi-Gabbitas, owner of Janjou Patisserie in Boise. A sorrowful note about the boy’s death was posted on the bakery’s Facebook page last night. “We are saddened and heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved son,” the family said in the post.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Morris Hill Cemetery, according to an announcement on the Janjou Facebook page.
