The Payette County Coroner’s Office has identified a body found in a field as Jeff Brenner, a missing Payette man.

According to a release from the coroner’s office, a landowner called dispatch Tuesday morning to report what appeared to be a human body in an irrigated field along Big Willow Road and Dry Creek Road. Deputies responding to the area found Brenner’s body.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, the release said.

Brenner was last seen May 29 and had been reported missing June 1. He had gone turkey hunting with a friend near Council but never returned home, his family said.

His pickup truck was found on Dry Creek Road near Little Willow Road on June 2. It’s not clear how close Brenner’s body was to the vehicle.

Brenner’s family and friends, alongside Payette County Sheriff’s deputies searched the area by ground and by air over the weekend but were unable to locate the man.

Brenner's family has started an online fundraiser to cover funeral costs. You can donate at this link.
