Five-time giant slalom champion wins super G in Sun Valley

Tim Jitloff of Reno won his first national title in men’s super G on Thursday at the U.S. Alpine Championships at Bald Mountain.

Jitloff’s total time of 1 minute, 18.06 seconds was .61 seconds faster than Vermont’s Ryan Cochran-Siegle.

In the women’s super G, Anna Marno of Centennial, Wyo., picked up her first national title in 1:14.04 — .28 seconds ahead of World Cup veteran Laureene Ross.

The event continues Friday with the men’s and women’s slalom.

Saturday: Men’s giant slalom (runs at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.) Awards at 2:30 p.m. Baldy Bash street party at 3 p.m. Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin will sign autographs at the Brass Ranch at River Run from 4 to 5 p.m.

Sunday: Women’s giant slalom (runs at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.). Awards at 1:30 p.m.
