MOSCOW — Quarterback Layton Harris helped Grangeville return to the top of the 2A ranks for the first time since 2011, completing 7-of-9 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns while adding another score on the ground in a win at the Kibbie Dome.

Aberdeen entered with an 11-game winning streak and the classification’s No. 1 defense (9.7 ppg), but the Tigers were knocked off their feet in the opening quarter as Grangeville took a 16-0 lead in a three-minute span.

POCATELLO — Valley ended defending 1A Division I Prairie’s 23-game winning streak and avenged a loss to the Pirates in last year’s title game with a victory at Holt Arena.

Valley, which scored 104 points in a win over Lapwai in the semifinals, scored three unanswered TDs to start the game and led 28-8 at halftime.

Quarterback Ben Taylor threw three TD passes and ran for two more scores for Valley’s first title since 1990 when it won as a 2A program.

Reigning 1A All-Idaho Player of the Year Jake Bruner had two TD passes for Prairie.
