Homedale raced out to a 14-point lead in the second quarter, but Gooding (9-2) came back to tie the game on a Hail Mary at the end of the first half, then carried the momentum into the second half for a 3A semifinal 43-34 victory Friday night at Gooding High.
Gooding quarterback Wyatt Williams had a hand in all five Senators touchdowns, throwing for four and running for one.
Gooding’s victory ensures it will take on the winner of Saturday’s Sugar-Salem at Emmett game next week at Pocatello’s Holt Arena. A time and a date have not been set yet.
