‘Forever grateful.’ Borah High football coach steps down after five seasons

The Borah High football program is looking for its next varsity coach.

After five seasons, Borah graduate J.Q. Kenyon has stepped down.

“I cherished my time as coach of Borah High,” Kenyon told the Idaho Statesman. “I’ll never forget the memories I made with the players and people involved in the program.

“I will forever be grateful for the time I had being head coach. I wish best of luck to the Borah Lions moving forward.”

After five seasons, J.Q. Kenyon has stepped down as the Borah High football coach. He compiled an overall record of 20-28, leading the Lions to the state playoffs in three of his five seasons.

While with the Lions, Kenyon compiled an overall record of 20-28, helping Borah qualify for the state playoffs in three of his five seasons.

In addition to playing for the Lions, Kenyon grew up on the sidelines as his father, Quane Kenyon Jr., coached and taught at the school for 23 years.

Borah becomes the ninth football program among 6A and 5A Southern Idaho Conference schools to conduct a coaching search after the 2025 season. Nampa, Rocky Mountain, Capital, Meridian, Kuna, Columbia, Vallivue and Ridgevue have all hired new coaches.

The Boise School District is working to hire Kenyon’s replacement.
