This graduate of Idaho’s Gooding High just set an NFL postseason record
From a small town in Idaho to a national championship with the University of Michigan and now to the NFL, Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland continues to make waves.
The Gooding High graduate wrapped up the 2025 NFL season in a way no other tight end ever had. Loveland set a postseason record for TE receiving yards with 193, surpassing Detroit’s Sam LaPorta (176). And he did it in just two games.
Loveland racked up eight catches for a career-high 137 receiving yards in Chicago’s 31-27 win over Green Bay in the wildcard round, and then added four receptions for 56 yards before leaving in the fourth quarter with a concussion in a 20-17 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round.
“And he’s just getting started 😏” the Chicago Bears said in an Instagram post earlier this week.
It took three games for LaPorta to collect 176 yards in the 2023 postseason.
Loveland, the 2021-22 Gatorade Idaho Football Player of the Year, made 11 starts in 16 regular-season games for the Bears as a rookie, totaling 58 catches for 713 yards and six touchdowns. He was drafted 10th overall by Chicago in the 2025 NFL Draft.
While at Michigan, the 6-6, 241-pounder broke the program’s single-season record for receptions by a tight end (56) during the 2024 season. He was named a second-team All-American that year and ended his Michigan career with 117 receptions for 1,466 yards and 11 touchdowns.
