How 5 Southwest Idaho football teams can win division, league titles Friday

Two weeks still remain in the high school football regular season. But five teams have a chance to win four league and division championships this week around the Treasure Valley.

The top matchup features a battle of ranked teams at Dona Larsen Park to decide the 6A Foothills Division crown. Bishop Kelly can wrap up another 5A SIC title Friday night, and the race for the 4A SRV and 2A WIC championships near their end.

We broke down all the scenarios and made our predictions below.

Timberline wide receiver Hudson Lewis stirs up Capital's secondary on his way to a 49-yard touchdown in the first quarter at Dona Larsen Park in Boise, Friday, Sept. 26, 2025.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN VS. TIMBERLINE

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Dona Larsen Park

Watch: NFHSNetwork.com

The postseason scenarios don’t get much simpler than this: Friday’s winner wraps up the 6A SIC Foothills Division title, which comes with a spot in the conference championship and a first-round playoff bye.

A win by No. 1-ranked Rocky Mountain (7-0, 4-0) means it hosts Eagle for the SIC championship next week. A win by No. 4-ranked Timberline (6-1, 3-1) means it travels to Eagle.

The on-field matchup also boils down to a simple question: Can Timberline stop the run?

Rocky Mountain fields 6A’s top offense (44.9 ppg) thanks to a state-leading run game (309 yards per game), and the Wolves field the state’s stingiest defense (13.4 ppg). But Timberline surrendered 277 rushing yards to a Middleton team that signaled its intentions on nearly every down, and it has lost 13 straight to the Grizzlies.

Prediction: Rocky Mountain 33, Timberline 28

RIDGEVUE AT BISHOP KELLY

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday

Watch: NFHSNetwork.com

Top-ranked Bishop Kelly owns the 5A Southern Idaho Conference. The Knights (7-0, 4-0) have won 26 straight conference games, and win No. 27 would clinch BK its fourth straight league title.

The Knights welcome a familiar punching bag Friday, holding a 9-0 all-time record vs. the Warhawks with an average margin of victory of 36.7 points. But Ridgevue (6-1, 3-1) has exceeded all expectations thus far, and one more win secures the Warhawks the first playoff berth in program history.

Bishop Kelly shouldn’t expect another cakewalk.

Prediction: Bishop Kelly 27, Ridgevue 20

FRUITLAND AT WEISER

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday

Watch: IdahoSports.com

No. 2-ranked Fruitland (7-0, 3-0 4A SRV) rallied past No. 3-ranked Homedale last week. Now the Grizzlies need a bit of help from their recently vanquished foe.

A Fruitland win and a Homedale victory at McCall-Donnelly secures the Grizzlies their first league title since 2017. Wins by Fruitland and McCall mean the two battle the conference championship and only guaranteed playoff berth next week in Fruitland.

Fruitland has struggled against rival Weiser (4-3, 2-1) in recent years, losing five straight to the Wolverines. So the Grizzlies can’t afford to cast their full attention to scoreboard watching.

Prediction: Fruitland 28, Weiser 20

NOTUS AT IDAHO CITY

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday

Idaho City (6-1, 3-0) stands on the brink of its first league title since 2019. Snap a five-year losing streak to Notus, and the Wildcats clinch the 2A Western Idaho Conference crown and the league’s only guaranteed playoff berth.

Notus (3-5, 2-0) can’t officially claim the title with a win Friday, but a victory would put the Pirates in firm control of the league, with only Wilder (1-6) remaining on their schedule.

Prediction: Idaho City 30, Notus 26
